13_elsluggo.jpg
A mock cover for a comic an associate of mine and I thought of. I really hope this becomes an actual book some day, beacuse the concept is awesome. The world's greatest luchadore battles the evil will of a magician whose head is a Dia de los Muertos sugar skull. Fun stuff.

My wife and I are HUGE Star Wars geeks. So I made this piece for her, as she is also a fan of the Virgin of Guadalupe. I felt it was apt to have an Ewok be the cherub.

15_showdevils.jpg
This is a poster design I thought up for the weirdest friends a guy could have: Serena Rose and The Enigma. They're traveling sideshow freaks who eat lightbulbs, hammer huge nails into their skulls, swallow swords, and do things with running chainsaws that no blindfolded person should ever do. They liked this so much that it's now their banner they use behind them at their shows. Awesome.

Josh Katz (aka Rappy McRapperson) used to have a public access TV show that was mindless, stupid and inane... therefore I thought it was awesome. I liked it so much, I decided to make this piece into a giant poster. A few days after sending it to him, he showed up at my house and we've ben friends ever since. Who knew?!

joshkatz4.jpg
Some art for one of Rappy's albums. Every once in a while, it gets used for his facebook profile pic.
-
joshkatz2c.jpg
Cover for anoter Rappy album. It didn't get fully used, but it's still one of my favorite pieces.
-
joshkatz3.jpg
I don't know if Josh ever actually used this for anything, but he paid me for it.
-
joshkatz5.jpg
This was for some stickers and T-shirts Rappy was making. Not sure if that project ever saw the light of day... but sometimes it's just fun to make art.

shirts6.jpg
My wife used to be in a bowling league. This was for their bowling shirts.
-
icons1.jpg
Some quick icons... basically, me just playing around in Photoshop.
-
poster1.jpg
A guy I know is a local grafitti and poster artist. He commissioned me to make some designs. I cannot begin to tell you how cool it is to see the entire wall of a building in downtown Seattle covered from top to bottom in my art. Epic.

poster14.jpg
For his "LAOS" campaign. Based on the Burma / Myanmar original national flag.
-
poster4.jpg
The original flag for Laos had a 3-headed elephant in a temple. He asked me to update that idea and this was the result.
-
poster5c.jpg
For the sticker. I really like the red background.
-
cartoons4.jpg
Some cartoons I did in my college days. They're not as good as my current work, but I really like them. They still make me chuckle.
-
cartoons2.jpg
More college cartoons.
-
cartoons3.jpg
And... more college stuff.
-
cartoons1.jpg
Holy Moses! Even more college stuff.

A buddy of mine owns a comic shop and he was hosting a charity event. I made this and donated it to be auctioned. Not sure what it took in, but it did sell.
-
vetruvian1.jpg
For my comic shop buddy's wall... he's got a thing about DaVinci's Vetruvian Man, so this was my version with some of my characters.

A sketch card from a series auctioned off to help out the March of Dimes. Had hella fun doing this.

jeff2b_clr.jpg
One of the early pieces for what would eventually become my latest comic project, "Jeff."
-
jeff1.jpg
"Jeff" is actually based on a real guy (also named Jeff). I work with him and he commissioned me to do this piece. I liked working on it so much, that I wrote a script to accompany it and that eventually became the script for the book. You can get copies from www.creatorsedgepress.com or download them for $1 at www.drivethrucomics.com

jeff_final_cover.jpg
Cover for "Jeff" #1. Basically, it's the story of a normal guy who inexplicably gets transported to an alternate universe called the Realm. It's choked with dragons, witches and weirdness. Every time he's plopped into the Realm, he appears with spiked gauntlets, horns on his hat and an awesome axe... the perfect tools to save all the busty damsels in distress!

pinup_final_clr1.jpg
There's a guy out here in Washington who builds custom "kegerators" out of old 50's and 60's refrigerators. And they are another level of bad-ass. This was for one he designed to look like a WWII bomber. Complete with pin-up babe!

As the Art Director For Creator's Edge Press, I designed this for some stickers and posters. I used a revolutionary theme (our motto at the time was "Join the Revolution").

disk2.jpg
Disc design for a disc golf tournament being sponsored by my buddy's store. "Chainbangers". I had an awesome time figuring out how to make anthropomorphic versions of a disc and a basket.

Poster design for a disc golf tournament being sponsored by my buddy's store. "Chainbangers". He wanted a "Northwest Disc Golf meets Lord of the Rings" feel to it.
Ta-da!
-
cb_poster2.jpg
Another disc golf poster. Had an awesome time doing this one. "The Road Warrior" is one of my all-time favorite films and the client was very liberal on how crazy I got with the characters. I think it works pretty damn well.

Label for a hot sauce company out of Tacoma, WA (www.heavenlyheat.org)
The client wanted to distance himself from other ghost pepper sauce labels (who usually use images of ghosts and spectres) and just wanted to do somethig with type. He wanted "the logo to be like vapor coming together to form the letters of the sauce name." This is what I came up with and it has proven to be very popular.

freecomicposter.jpg
For my friend's comic book store. Sometimes, I really enjoy getting an idea across with type and basic shapes only.

elske1.jpg
This is one of 6 pieces I did for a friend of mine who is publishing a horror comic collection. He wanted to have a sexy version of a Crypt Keeper character... so this is based on real-life horror bombshell Elske McCain... who is actually putting her name to the project. It's fun to draw sexy and violent stuff sometimes.

I did this piece for an old acquaintance of mine who called me out of the blue and needed this in a rush. I'm a professional, dammit. I worked this up in a quick and beat the deadline.
I have yet to be paid.
Rule #1 to all of you aspiring graphic designers and illustrators out there: get paid up front.

fire_eater_label2.jpg
A hot sauce label for the Showdevils... not sure if these ever actually got made, but Serana actually eats fire. Serious.
-
kiss_of_death_label2.jpg
Another hot sauce label. Again, not sure if it ever got made, but this is a VERY close representation of what their "kiss of death" act looks like. Except, they're blindfolded... which is WAY more epic and sphincter-clenching. Trust me.

showdevils_1.jpg
This is the very first poster I ever did for the Showdevils. It needed to be done quickly and I had never met them or seen their show. I just did my research online and worked this up the best I could. The night of the show, I brought the original art to give them as a gift, seeing as they were doing the show almost free to benefit our friend with cancer. They were so impressed with the art that we've been friends ever since. Goes to show you, that giving away what you love doing can really come back to you ten-fold.
